COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - The South Carolina Supreme court may have dealt Christopher Pittman another blow today by denying his appeal.
But supporters of the boy convicted of killing his grandparents when he was twelve say they'll keep on fighting to prove he couldn't control his actions because he was under the influence of the antidepressant Zoloft.
The state's high court upheld Pittman's murder conviction and 30-year prison sentence, rejecting eleven different issues brought up by the defense, including an argument that Pittman was involuntarily intoxicated by taking Zoloft and didn't know what he was doing when he used a shotgun to kill his grandparents and burned down their Chester County home in 2001.
Pittman has been off all antidepressants for several years now and serving his sentence in a South Carolina prison.
